An InstaSunday

it started with some delicious French press coffee and an egg sandwich on the porch at one of our favorite brunch spots

then a chat with grandparents on the way to the golf store

where I swear RT could spend all day. It's like me in a clothing store. He just wants to make sure he sees everything

followed by some driving around in our neighborhood looking at houses we would love to buy .. some day

until I started feeling icky and we went home and lounged in comfies {mine consisted of one of RT's tshirts and a pair of his boxers .. by far my sexiest look .. NOT!} with the dogs.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

I have had this dress for several years now and it continues to be one of my favorites. Every spring and summer this red, orange and yellow tie dye just seems to speak to my soul. Paired with a FABULOUS black leather vest and some leopard wedges for a little edginess. Cute right?!?

Hair .. A Product Review

My hair is naturally curly. If I let it dry natural with just a little bit of product run through it, it looks like this ..

But I very rarely wear it that way. Honestly, as weird as this sounds, it's too much maintenance. You see .. I don't wash my hair very often. Once maybe twice a week. Call me crazy but my hair it too dry, it would turn to strait straw if I washed it everyday so .. I don't. Anyway to wear it curly I would have to wet it and run product through it every morning and blah blah blah and I don't want to do that.

I am a night showers person. I wash my hair and dry it upside down with a paddle brush. Then I go to sleep and until the next time I wash it, all I do is run a brush through it when I wake up. So this is what my hair looks like most of the time ..

On the last day or two before my next wash I have to spot treat the places that get a little too oily. Mainly through the front and the top because i run my hands through my hair all the time. I use baby powder. I just put it in my hands first and then feather it through the front and top of my hair. But the other day I was reading one of my favorite blogs, the daybook blog, and Sydney had posted a hair tutorial and she really likes suave dry shampoo. Feeling inspired, yesterday at the store I went in search of it. I found it for pretty cheap {it cost about $3} and I tried it out this morning. I gotta tell you .. Sydney is absolutely right. It works really well and smells awesome and doesn't leave your hair feeling icky and weird.

What I'm trying to tell you is that if you are in the market for some dry shampoo .. Suave is the way to go.

Happy Monday!

Pink Lace

Surely this is not the first time I have mentioned my love of all things pink. It is true. I am as girly as they come. I love clothes and shoes and make up and doing my hair and my favorite color is pink. Hot pink. Always has been. Always will be. That being said, you can imagine my excitement to find pink lace pants!! They are phenomenal don't you think?! {ha!}

The Most Important Meal of the Day

At my house we are eaters. We do not skip meals. Especially since I love to cook. And that includes breakfast. I am every bit a morning person and I don't like to be rushed so I get up in plenty of time to do my devotional, work out, cook and eat breakfast, enjoy a couple of cups of coffee, get ready and even watch some of the news. I literally wake up a good three and a half hours before I have to leave the house for work. It is glorious. I love that time.

I generally try to cook pretty healthy. Calorie, fat, and salt conscious and I try to have a good balance of all of your necessary food groups. During thanksgiving I linked you guys over to the pioneer woman's blog for her cinnamon rolls recipe. It is decadent and delicious and if you like to cook you have to try them. So so yummy! But they are a treat. Not intended to every week use. At least not for me. So this morning I made cooking light's version of cinnamon rolls. Also very yummy! Not quite as decadent but satisfying for sure.

before the icing

after the icing .. oh yeah!!

This is what RT's breakfast plate looks like on any given morning..

Sometimes there is fruit or a muffin instead of the cinnamon rolls. Sometimes the bacon is sausage. Sometime his eggs and sausage are in a tortilla. But I make eggs every morning that he is at home. My plate looks the same with a little less eggs and minus the bacon/sausage. I use one whole egg and five eggs whites and scramble them up with a little milk, salt and pepper and we choose either center cut bacon or the package that has the most meat on it.

Happy Tuesday!!

Brown

This past Saturday I had so much fun out shopping with my mom!! One of the things I am in need of is a new brown wedge/summer heel so we went to Nordstrom thinking we would find it no problem. Many pair later, I still had not found anything I loved. Several were fine but where I come from fine just isn't good enough ya know what I'm sayin.

Still in search, I have spent much of today scouring the Internet and these are my favorite options but I'm still just not sure I have found THE one.

A Solution

Round Top didn't prove to be super successful for me. My mom just felt like I needed to be there. She didn't want to be responsible for the decision about something that was going in my house. I completely understand. She sent a bunch of pictures of things but in the end I really just needed to be able to see the stuff.

Yesterday, she and her sisters were at my grandparent's house going through everything that is still there deciding what to keep and what to donate and she saw this ..

I went and picked it up and thought, if nothing else, it would be a temporary solution until I found something else. Something bigger is really what I was thinking. But honestly I think it might be pretty perfect. I am still debating whether or not I want to paint it but it is a great size for the small amount of space I have and I honestly love that it is round and not rectangular. It holds a decent number of shoes too. Eight pair I think.

Cute right?!?

Thanks mama!!

Risen

I am in denial about how grown up janey looks in this picture
sweet brothers playing in the hammock
only a baby looks this freakin adorable with a dirty face
this was the first year deuce was really excited about hunting the eggs. He was so proud and wanted to show off every egg he found
had to include this pic of my sister and her twins. So cute!

HE is risen!

But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was
crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay
(Matthew 28:5&6)

I hope you all had an amazing Easter. I was out at my aunt and uncle's house with family. They live about a block from my parents on the lake. Holidays are getting more and more fun with the kids because many of them are old enough to understand and get excited about all of the festivities.

We were missing RT {he is in OK visiting his family} and my brother and his family {they stayed home .. boo!} so that was kinda sad but my sister's brood was there and they had a blast. Three Easter egg hunts in all!! We went to church on Saturday evening and afterward the church had an egg drop where one of the members dropped eggs into a field from a helicopter and then all of the kids get to run for them. So fun! Then Sunday morning the Easter bunny had visited at my parents house and still another one at my aunt and uncle's. Big time fun if you know what I am saying!!

Happy Monday!

Hurt

I do .. all over. My calves hurt. My hamstrings hurt. My thighs hurt. My xl booty hurts. My abs hurt. My biceps hurt. My triceps hurt. I hurt. I blame smart barre. I freakin love it!!

So here is the deal .. I love to run. One of my all time favorite things is to get up early and, just as the sun starts to rise, hook zoey up to a leash and take off through the neighborhood on a nice run. It is such an amazing time of day. The world around me is just starting to wake. It is quiet and warm {I live in TX .. it is ALWAYS warm} and peaceful as all get out. I run and think and reflect and blah blah blah. I love this part of my day so much that it saddens me to write this next sentence. I can't run anymore.

I don't know what happened but my knees have just quit on me. The frustrating thing is that I am 25. 25 years old people!! I have never been super sporty so it's not like I can blame this knee issue on years of some mega level of athleticism {ha!}. It makes me laugh to even think that. That is how not sporty I am. I am more of a solo athlete. Water sports, snow sports, dance. Ya know. Anyway .. for the past several months, whenever I run, my knees hurt so bad that it is painful to walk for the next couple of days. This is not good. I recognize that. So I have had to quit running because my body has started posing a revolt. Stupid body!!

Needless to say i was forced to find other means of exercise and when my cousin asked me to go to a barre class with her I was more than willing. I was instantly hooked. It is low impact with lots of stretching but it is oh so very hard!! I have been going 3-4 times a week every week since the first of the year and I am still sore after the classes. I was in good shape before and yet I have seen a dramatic difference in my body. I am building muscle all over the place. Watch out for me! Seriously! Ok no not really. Moving on ..

What I am saying is you should find out if there is a barre class offered near you and try it out. If you don't love it then just don't ever go again. But I am willing to bet you will be obsessed right along with me. And if you are anything like me then a cute outfit makes everything better ..

Hoop it Up

Top: Madison Marcus
Pants: Kancan Jeans
Wedges: via

This week has flown by. I spent all day yesterday convinced it was Tuesday and now the week is almost up. My mom and her two sisters and my sister in law are headed south to round top today and I am super sad that I am not able to be with them. I so love to walk around looking at all of the millions of things. My mom is on the hunt for shoe storage though. This is obviously heavy on my mind right now {ha!} .

So basically today is just a regular Thursday at the store. I am super excited to be back in these awesome gold pants and this glorious pair of hot pink and orange wedges arrived via the UPS man yesterday. Woohoo!

Happy Thursday!

The Lion, The Witch And The ...

Top: Beyond Vintage
Jeans: Genetic Denim
Wedges: Charles David

**Please dirsregard my EXTRA shiny forehead {ha!}**
I told you guys a few posts ago that my grandparents were moving. Well they have moved now but in their old house they had a pair of bookshelves that had glass front doors on them. I was going to take one and my grandfather's son was going to take the other. I was really excited because I had seen a bookshelf used as shoe storage on pinterest. Such a cute idea and this shelf was being given to me so that was even better.

RT met my dad over at Nana and Poppy's house and they loaded the shelving unit into the truck and drove it to our house only to realize that it was too big. They couldn't even get it into the room. We live in a little old house and the turn they needed to make was too tight. So they had to load it back up and take it back. What a pain! Such sweet men in my life though that they did it for me and didn't get upset at all. Thanks guys!

Needless to say I was super disappointed so RT and I went by an antique mall this morning to see if we could find anything I could use for fun decorative shoe storage. What we found was some little antique wardrobes. I love fun old finds and I feel like when we choose one it will be the perfect thing to house all of my crazy colorful shoes!

Happy Monday!
