Costume Party

I am a girl who loves any reason to wear a costume. And ... BONUS! ... my husband loves a good costume too. This weekend was obviously awesome for us in this regard. We had an 80s party for a friend's birthday on Friday. RT won best costume for his Peewee Herman ensemble. Proud wife right here ha!

Then, Saturday we had a Halloween Party at our house. I was the Queen of Hearts and RT was the Mad Hatter. I love this party because all of our friends are super fun and everyone always dresses up.

Great weekend everyone! Can't wait for next year!!

My Momma's Closet

This past weekend I went out to my parent's house and worked on my mom's closet. What that means is that I went in there and made outfits with all of her clothes. Then, I make notes on and about them, print them out and put them in an album that she can keep in her closet. That way she always has an outfit that she knows will look awesome on her.
I love getting to work in people's closets. My mom's was already organized perfectly but for other people I can get in there and organize everything so that they can see and find things instantly. People just get in a rut with their clothes. They always wear this shirt with that pair of jeans and those shoes ya know. Having someone else come in and mix it all around makes you feel like you have a brand new wardrobe. It is awesomeness.
So here are just a couple of the outfits I made for my momma who rocks my world!

Straight Up

Dress: Vintage
Shoes: L.A.M.B.

RT and I just had a very exciting meeting! We might be remodeling our house and we met with a builder today to get the ball rolling and see if this is something that we could possibly do. It is so interesting to me how dynamic life and relationships are. A year ago RT and I would have said we would stay in our house (as is) for another five plus years and then we would sell and buy a new house. Now ... our minds have changed and our timeline has too. I suppose that is why people tell you not to use the words "never" and "always." You don't know how you are going to feel about things in the future. Declarative statements just don't work.

Is this dress not ah-may-zing?! It makes me happy in every way possible. I adore fun vintage finds that amp up my wardrobe. I am going out for a friend's birthday tonight and the occasion just might call for a full sequined 80s number. We shall see :)

Have a fabulous weekend!

Today's the Day

Shirt: Mink Pink
Shorts: Caribbean Nights
Shoes: Gianni Bini
Busy busy day at the store today. It is so much fun when the seasons change and people start getting excited about new clothes and I get to help them put together their wardrobe. Creating outfits is something I truly love to do. I guess that is why a career in retail suits me so well. I know how awesome I feel when I have on a great outfit and I enjoy helping other people feel that same sense of confidence.

Right now is that time of year when it is chilly in the morning when I leave for work but it heats up quickly so I have to layer or mix pieces that are traditionally "summer" with my more fall pieces. These shorts paired with a long sleeved button up and booties is perfect. My legs are a tiny bit cold in the mornings but in the afternoon I can roll up my sleeves and I am not too hot.

And just a random side note ... Layla got to wear her sweater for the first time this morning!! I basically think she and Zoey are the cutest pups on the planet and she is just that much sweeter in her little woven sweater.

Have a great day!

1919

Sweater: Mink Pink
Camisole: JCrew
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity
Wedges: Steve Madden
RT and I went to Oklahoma this weekend to visit his family. We are lucky that they are only a few hours from us so it is pretty easy to go visit if he and I happen to have a weekend off together. We got there late on Friday evening and headed to the casino with my mother-in-law where we promptly lost all the money we took to gamble with. Fail. Fun but total fail. For the rest of the weekend we hung out with family and played with our nieces. They are both getting so big. It's crazy.

My father-in-law likes to collect different things and has some pretty cool metal signs that he has picked up over the years. He brought this one out to show me and I thought it was so neat. From 1919, for the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs. This was such a modern concept at that time. Its awesome to really think about how far we have come as a country since then.

Saturday afternoon RT and I went on a hike. It was really fun. We both love to be outside in nature like this. We have been talking about hiking this mountain together since the first time I ever went home with him the summer we met. Finally accomplished and we will definitely be back!

The Fields

Dress: Vintage
Belt: VIntage
Shoes: Steve Madden
Last week I went out of town with my mom, sister and sister-in-law. We went to Lake Austin Spa just us girls and it was so much fun but first, we went down to the Round Top Antiques Fair. We spent the day shopping in the fields. All of these antique vendors set up in the fields in the area and if you are into treasure hunting for one-of-a-kind finds it is so much fun. We found lots of great things and this dress and belt were two of them. There was a lady with a super fun clothing booth and we spent quite a bit of time trying things on over the clothes we were wearing. It was hilarious but hey you do what you gotta do right?!? This wasn't my only awesome find ... teaser (ha!).
This weekend RT and I are off to Oklahoma to visit me in-laws!
Have a great weekend!

Makeup: Winged Eyeliner

I have never done a makeup post before but I have been trying out the winged eyeliner lately and I really like it so I thought I would share.

I always start with an all over eye primer. Urban Decay is my favorite brand.
Then I pull a medium brown shadow in from the outside corner of my eye toward the middle in the crease.
Next I cover the rest of my lid with a shimmery gold and cover the brow bone with a very neutral nude shadow.
For the eyeliner I make a straight line from the outer corner of my lash line straight up toward the outer point of my eyebrow with dark brown liquid liner. Finally, I angle a line from the inner most part of my lash line out to meet the first line and fill in the triangular portion underneath.

Gossip Girl

I won't even tell you how much TV RT and I watch. It is seriously embarrassing. More so for me because I have several shows that I watch when he isn't home. One of which is Gossip Girl, my most fashionable show. My personal favorites are Nate and Serena. Surely you are surprised. OK probably you aren't. Anyway ...
So far this season, there is no shortage of turquoise jewelry for Blake Lively. I love it. Whether it is a pop of color to an otherwise neutral ensemble or more notably another color added in with a series of brights, it looks great.

I personally want to wear this exact outfit. I love the bright red maxi skirt and the blue sequined vest worn over a simple white tank. Plus the black and white bag. Love!

Chace Crawford's style in the show is so cute. He always looks really put together and presentable without looking stuffy. His clothes are cool and casual. Perfection!
