so.. two of my very favorite people in the whole entire world are getting married this weekend!! i am beyond excited for them! 

and.. as if that isn't awesome enough on its own .. they are getting married in the dominican republic so we are going to be at the beach for a week with all of our closest friends!! 

we leave tomorrow .. i am PUMPED!!

needless to say i won't be tending to this little blog here or anything else at all for one whole week other than soaking up some sun with my peeps and celebrating the union of two of my besties :)

a house update

hey guys! a lot has been going on with the house lately!! everything is all ready and waiting on inspection from the city so that they can start insulation and sheet rock .. woohoo!!

please disregard the GIANT trench in RT's usually beautiful yard and notice house cute the front looks with the second story finished and the roof on and everything >> and our front porch area is now going to be covered .. see^^

 this is what will be our pantry but currently it is randomly housing a bunch of doors {ha!} >> and our kitchen has its windows and door and all of the plumbing and electricity is finished >> and this is the laundry area .. it has been a big topic of discussion the past day or so actually {ha!} my mom has her creative wheels turing as far as decor and I AM LOVING IT!!

moving on to the master area .. first you see what will be our closet that is also the hallway leading into our bedroom >> and in the bedroom we have french doors leading out onto the back porch that will also be covered now >> and our long skinny bathroom 

 heading upstairs you enter into the family room >> and our office is up there too 

 one bedroom toward the front of the house >> with a bathroom {with a tub that is installed and succesfully holds water .. yea for small victories!!} between it and >> the bedroom toward the back of the house

we are beyond excited you guys and i love being able to share the progress here!!

getting closer and closer to move in day every minute :)

might be hard to understand

i love a child i have never met
          i love their mother too
                    more than i really know how to express
                                     is that hard to understand?

somewhere out there is a woman who is either already pregnant 

or will become pregnant with the baby that RT and i will get to raise

she is my hero

i feel like as humans we are selfish by nature
we simply think of ourselves first .. even if we wish we didn't
but the birth mom of our child will put herself second in order to make an adoption plan for her baby

can you even imagine?!?

for whatever reasons .. she will decide that her baby will get to have the life that she deeply desires for them by going to live with someone else .. with us

the magnitude of that is hard for me to wrap my brain around

she loves her baby so much that she will be willing to let us raise him/her .. and one thing is for sure .. our baby will know that about their mother. they will know how much she loves them. they will know that is why they live with us .. that is why we get to be their mom and dad

she is not giving up on her child

she is not weak and unwilling

she is the exact opposite

she is giving up herself for her child
          she is the strongest most willing person
                    strong enough to make an adoption plan to let us raise her child
                               willing enough to think objectively about what she truly wants for her baby

i adore them both and i can't wait to meet them so that we can all become a family ..

throw back to my birth year!! this outfit came straight out of the movie teen witch {which is actually two years younger than me eek!} .. raise your hand if you have seen that movie .. thank you! you are now officially my best friend {ha!}

anyway .. meet all of the dogs at our house :) actually minnie isn't in the picture but the other three are .. zoey bertie and layla. we are dog lovers what can i say

on friday i sat down for the first time at work and layla didn't run over to sit with me like she usually does. i thought it was strange but figured she was just mad at me for being up so much that day

she is dramatic like that

a few minutes later a lady came in with her dog so i went over to pick layla up so that she wouldn't go try to befriend the dog. i noticed that she wasn't really opening her left eye and when i looked closer saw that the color part of her eye that is usually brown looked really red. i immediately called the vet and she told me to bring the bitty by after work

i swear to you everything that happens with this dog happens during emergency hours .. 6:30pm on a friday night .. of course! thank goodness for a down home country vet is all i have to say

so we stop by to see dr.meg who tells me that layla has a trauma hemorrhage in her eye that is causing bleeding behind 3/4 of her eye. the blood was blocking her vision on that side and everything. she asked me what happened to her and i couldn't think of anything. she said they see this kind of thing sometimes but it is usually due to a major trauma like being hit by a car or something. so anyway .. i had to put drops in her eye every hour and goop in before bed and by the next morning it was looking much better. we went back to the vet who was very pleased with the progress but she still wants to see her back tomorrow. dr.meg is afraid that even though it is healing well it still might cause her to get glaucoma in that eye which would make her lose vision on the left side :(

so for now we are still doing one set of drops every 3-4 hours .. another set of drops twice a day .. goop a couple of times a day .. and pain meds in the morning

for some reason when it is the one millionth hellishly hot day in a row the thought of doing your hair makes you legitimately want to die .. so you put it up it yet another rubberband

for some reason i can't stop thinking about what we are going to name the baby we get to adopt .. can we say jumping the gun?!?

for some reason i haven't been wearing pants all that much lately .. i used to wear jeans several times a week but i have been in a dresses/shorts/skirts mood big time

for some reason i love every song on lifehouse's almeria album that came out last december. i know i am way behind the times but it has just started playing on our pandora at the store and i have thumb's upped every single one

for some reason .. just kidding i'm finished {ha!}

an oldie but a goodie :)

hello there all of you lovely readers :)

boy has it been a whirlwind couple of weeks

sooooo .. we are adopting .. 

after our last negative pregnancy test RT and i realized that clearly that is not the path we are intended to be on. not right now at least. we prayed about it a lot and had everyone we know praying for us and talking to people and we realized that adoption is the direction in which we are being lead

when i was growing up, my mom's oldest sister and her family lived in a house that had a garage apartment behind it. they always had seminary students and their families living there and for several years it was a couple and eventually their two daughters. after he graduated seminary, they moved away but my aunt has kept in touch with them. during one conversation, my aunt was telling our story and the woman said that she had some good friends who had adopted using a consultant with christian adoption consultants and thought it might be worth looking into

my aunt passed all of this info on to my mom who then passed it to me and .. after talking to RT .. i immediately called susan. i just knew in my heart that this was right

i left her a message and even though she was on vacation she called me right back {i had some guilt about that :) but she was very sweet and assured me i wasn't interrupting}. within days we had turned in our paperwork to begin working with susan as our adoption consultant and we have already been infinitely grateful for her. all of our family and friends so far have been really lucky and have been able to get pregnant naturally so we know absolutely nothing about adoption. she has been a huge help and guide through this process so far and i know that we will continue to be more and more thankful to have her mentoring us

adoption requires a lot of paperwork that can be overwhelming and i know the wait to be chosen by a birth family can be long but we are honestly really excited. susan has welcomed us into a community of other adoptive families she either worked with in the past or is currently working with and seeing their pictures and hearing their story fills my heart

this is where we are meant to be right now

i know there is still the potential for heart break no matter what road we are on. i have no expectations of a fairy tale story. it sure hasn't been one so far. but i also know that somewhere out there is a birth family that the Lord intends just for us. a family that is going to choose us to have the privilege of raising their child. i am praying for them and their baby constantly

a very quick hello

hey guys! so sorry i have been neglecting this blog so bad .. i have been working all day every day trying to get all of our adoption paperwork together. i know it can sometimes be a long process and i don't want us to be the reason for any kind of hold up. it is crazy how much stuff you have to get together and we have an adoption consultant helping SO much {i will tell you more about all of this soon :)}. i can't even imagine what it would be like if we didn't

anyway these presh pictures of me with all of my friends were taken by my friend mazie. last weekend we travelled south and stayed together for bridget's bachelorette party and it was an absolute blast! i always love having girl time and a whole weekend of it is all the better. love my girls!
