happy national dog day everyone!!

my two girls are as rotten as ever and i just adore them!!

i have actually been thinking about the dogs a lot lately
i am sure that sounds silly but their lives are going to change dramatically when babyP gets here

these dogs are both so routine oriented and they are very demanding of our time and attention .. both of which we give them with absolutely no qualms
when we got zoey .. we were worried that layla would absolutely hate her .. homegirl is quite the diva and she was very happy being the only dog in the house .. but she loved her new sister from the very beginning
i know they will be that way with babyP too but until then i am trying to love on them a little extra

they are our first babies after all {ha!}

tee time

a few nights ago RT and i had dinner at the house early and then we took the dogs and went to the course where he likes to play golf and walked a few holes as a family

right now i am using any excuse that i can to get outside and be active in any way at all

the more and more pregnant i get the less and less motivated i am to work out so any kind of movement that doesn't make me cringe is a good thing {ha!}

it was really fun to be out there with the dogs and they absolutely loved it :)

sometimes when it is sunny while we are taking blog photos I get accidental mad face .. sorry :(

yesterday RT and i had the day off together. we spent the day running errands and what not so this comfy casual outfit was just the ticket. this dream tank by michael stars is my new favorite t .. the love skirt you have seen before .. it is a tried and true favorite along with my acid washed denim jacket and chucks .. topped off with these new sunnies from free people that RT says make me look like john lennon .. i'm taking it as a compliment {ha!}

<<a little info needed to understand the following story .. a lot of times when i am petting zoey i will rest my forehead against hers and kiss her snout while i scratch her behind the ears or on her back or wherever>>

this week my parents are in san fransisco and the wine country on vacation with friends so RT and i are manning the fort and keeping their dog

bertie is such a sweet dog and is super easy. our only issue is with our dog .. zoey has an attitude problem .. she is crazy jealous of other dogs. she isn't aggressive but she is bossy and doesn't want anyone to give attention to other dogs instead of her

the other night i was at home alone with the dogs just lounging on the couch
bertie was at my feet so i was loving on her
zoey ran over and started trying to bully bertie out of the way so that i would pet her instead
i got onto zoey telling her to be nice which she really doesn't like
she ran and got a toy out of her basket and brought it over wagging her tail hoping that would make up for her bad behavior
when i didn't respond she slowly climbed into my lap clearly thinking i hadn't seen her so she was then standing over my lap wagging her tail showing me her toy
when that didn't work either she got really still and looked at me for a second and then pressed her forhead to mine .. it was so funny!! i couldn't help myself i started laughing and loved on her

she is a mess but she is my dog and i love her to death

throw back to my birth year!! this outfit came straight out of the movie teen witch {which is actually two years younger than me eek!} .. raise your hand if you have seen that movie .. thank you! you are now officially my best friend {ha!}

anyway .. meet all of the dogs at our house :) actually minnie isn't in the picture but the other three are .. zoey bertie and layla. we are dog lovers what can i say

on friday i sat down for the first time at work and layla didn't run over to sit with me like she usually does. i thought it was strange but figured she was just mad at me for being up so much that day

she is dramatic like that

a few minutes later a lady came in with her dog so i went over to pick layla up so that she wouldn't go try to befriend the dog. i noticed that she wasn't really opening her left eye and when i looked closer saw that the color part of her eye that is usually brown looked really red. i immediately called the vet and she told me to bring the bitty by after work

i swear to you everything that happens with this dog happens during emergency hours .. 6:30pm on a friday night .. of course! thank goodness for a down home country vet is all i have to say

so we stop by to see dr.meg who tells me that layla has a trauma hemorrhage in her eye that is causing bleeding behind 3/4 of her eye. the blood was blocking her vision on that side and everything. she asked me what happened to her and i couldn't think of anything. she said they see this kind of thing sometimes but it is usually due to a major trauma like being hit by a car or something. so anyway .. i had to put drops in her eye every hour and goop in before bed and by the next morning it was looking much better. we went back to the vet who was very pleased with the progress but she still wants to see her back tomorrow. dr.meg is afraid that even though it is healing well it still might cause her to get glaucoma in that eye which would make her lose vision on the left side :(

so for now we are still doing one set of drops every 3-4 hours .. another set of drops twice a day .. goop a couple of times a day .. and pain meds in the morning

when i was in eighth or ninth grade my mom got this little white dog named minnie. we have always had dogs and cats and been a family with multiple pets but up until minnie we had never had a little sheshe dog. i will never forget what one of my mom's friends said to her ..

nancy, that is not a dog it's a purse .. she goes everywhere with you

mom didn't take that to heart so much. minnie doesn't really go anywhere but fast forward several years to when i got layla and i heard the statement loud and clear. she is just like a purse. i sling her over my arm and she goes a lot of places with me. she is my constant companion and i wouldn't have it any other way. not to mention that she is just so dang cute {ha!}

a loopy puppy

this morning the bitty had to go to the vet to have her teeth cleaned :( sister has some dental issues because her mouth is too crowded with teeth and that makes them get icky faster than normal. the breath on that tiny thing is a serious disaster! they ended up pulling four of her teeth while they were in there cleaning. apparently two of them are in the very front on the bottom so she will now have a hole. we haven't confirmed this hilariousness yet but when we do i will try to remember to let you guys know

last week .. on friday .. she went to the vet to have her shots for the year and RT brought her to me at work after. she spent the rest of the day .. a good seven and a half hours .. curled up in a ball under our counter shaking

i did not like it

so .. today she went home after her dental work. that way she gets to curl up in fluffy blanket and live in a flying pink elephants sort of bitty heaven :)
