Delayed

I actually wore this outfit on Monday but RT has been at work for two days {major boo!} so these are the most up to date ensemble pics that I have. I normally wouldn't wear hot pink cut off shorts {by genetic denim} to work but paired with this fun multi colored lace floral cami by hanky lanky and worn under my lace and fringe poncho from free people they were more than appropriate. I wish I could wear this poncho everyday. It feels so throw back to me and adds insane amounts of visual interest. Clearly I am strategic when getting dressed most days but every now and then I have an outfit that I like more than most and this was one of those times. I will definitely be wearing this combo again and probably sooner than I actually should. {ha!}

A Weekend Review

On Friday night the three oldest kids on my side of the family came over to spend the night. It was so fun!! My sister's two oldest have been several times but this was the first time sweet Emery got to come too! I cannot even tell you how much fun it was and they were all so excited. It fills my heart that they love spending time with us as much as we do them.

When we got to the house we dumped all the toys out on the living room floor .. turned on cinderella .. And played until bedtime.

I always read this book call Tickle Monster at bedtime. Bedtime is probably the most inopportune time to read this story because the kids get all crazy and riled up but it is such a fun story and they love it so much that I do it anyway.

Saturday, after my sister came and got all the little ones .. I went in to work for a couple of hours and then spent the afternoon like this ..

No she is not spoiled!! Whatever would make you think that?!?

That night RT and I went out to celebrate with our friend Ben. He graduated with his masters that day and we were so excited to get to be a part of that incredible accomplishment with him!!

Yesterday RT had to work but I got up and headed to the lake with the dogs to spend mother's day with my mom and the rest of my family. We went to church and then just hung out at the lake all day until it was time to come back into town for dinner with my mom's side of the family. I love having a day dedicated to celebrating the moms in my life.

I hope you all had as good a weekend as I did!

Happy Monday!!

Tu Du I'm Here

Shirt: Babakul
Jeans: Genetic Denim
Shoes: mia (way old)

It is gloomy and rainy today but I gotta tell ya .. other than the fact that I haven't slept much the past two nights {not sure what that's all about} and I kinda wish I was at home in bed in my pjs with my husband and my dogs .. I really love it. Rain is so beautiful and cozy. It just makes you wanna curl up and get comfy and look out the window.

I have a big weekend ahead of me .. spending some time playing with kiddos .. celebrating with friends .. and honoring my momma. More details about all of that to come next week!

Happy weekend!!

Lazy Morning

Top: Mcginn Pants: handmade in Greece Shoes: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's

My wardrobe today was one of minimal effort. I got home from smart barre and was pretty tired so I applied minimal makeup .. threw on these awesome comfy pants that I got in a corner store in greece .. With a black blouse and strappy heels.

It was more of a be lazy with RT, the dogs, a cup of strong coffee and some breakfast kind of morning than a strategically plan my makeup and outfit kind of morning. You know what I mean right?!? I'm not the only one who does this am I?? Even so .. that's just how it is.

Happy Wednesday!!

Meatballs and Fried Rice

For dinner last night I made asian turkey meatballs and edamame fried rice and it was seriously delicious! Follow the links to the recipes on the skinny taste website and while you are there you should peruse the rest of her recipes because i have made several and they have all been really yummy.

I am the type of cook who follows a recipe. I can tweak to the liking of my family but I like to browse websites and magazines for new recipes and cook from them. Because of this, I do not cook the same things over and over. When people learn that I like to cook, inevitably they want to know what is my favorite thing to make. That is such a hard question for me because I, unlike most, do not have a arsenal of go to recipes. I am more of a "yea that looks good lets try it" kind of cook.

Anyway, if you are trying to decide what to make at your house this week .. I highly recommend these turkey meatballs served on a bed of fried rice. A glass of red wine never hurts either ;)

Coffee Fail

Shirt: Joie Jeans: Genetic Denim Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Most mornings, RT takes the pictures for my blog {thanks hunny!} right before I get in the car to head to work. Yesterday morning was no different .. I got all my stuff and my little chi chi put in the car .. we took pictures .. I got in the car to drive to work AND spilled scalding hot coffee all over me. FAIL!!

I had to rush back inside. Change clothes. Text my boss that I would be late because I am clearly a clutz. RT put more coffee in a to go cup and I left. When I got to work, I spilled the coffee AGAIN. Not kidding people!! At least it was on the car and not me that time. I took it as a sign that I was not meant to have my last cup of coffee that day and I left what remained in the mug in the car.

Happy Weekend!

Kidmia

Dress: What Goes Around Comes Around                                     Shoes: Dolce Vita
RT
Sisters
Audrey and Jason
Aunt Angela, Momma and Audrey

Last night we went to a fundraiser for an organization called Kidmia. My brother-in-law's sister and her husband started the process a couple of years ago to adopt a baby girl from Rawanda. Soon after the process began, international adoptions in Rawanda got temporarily put on hold so Amie and David switched their adoption to Ethiopia. Becoming more familiar with the conditions of the country and the number of orphans {more than five million} Amie and David felt the Lord was calling them to get more involved. They found out about the organization Kidmia and now serve diligently for them. It was a great night and I hope they were able to raise a significant amount of money to give back because Kidmia is doing great things in Ethiopia.

I copied this description of their purpose and vision from their website www.kidmia.org ..
/templates/photos/kids.jpgOur vision is to see orphaned and vulnerable children released from physical, economic, and spiritual poverty, reach their highest and fullest potential, be reunited or placed with a gospel-loving Ethiopian family, become constructive and productive citizens of their country, and enjoy life in all its fullness.

Kidmia fulfills this vision through the provision of comprehensive and holistic care and support that brings God-honoring, lasting, and holistic change to the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are motivated by God’s love to serve all children regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

Thank you so much Audrey and Jason for inviting us! We were so glad to be there and truly enjoyed getting to learn more about this incredible work.

Happy Wednesday!!
