Last night we went to a fundraiser for an organization called Kidmia. My brother-in-law's sister and her husband started the process a couple of years ago to adopt a baby girl from Rawanda. Soon after the process began, international adoptions in Rawanda got temporarily put on hold so Amie and David switched their adoption to Ethiopia. Becoming more familiar with the conditions of the country and the number of orphans {more than five million} Amie and David felt the Lord was calling them to get more involved. They found out about the organization Kidmia and now serve diligently for them. It was a great night and I hope they were able to raise a significant amount of money to give back because Kidmia is doing great things in Ethiopia.
I copied this description of their purpose and vision from their website www.kidmia.org ..
Our vision is to see orphaned and vulnerable children released from physical, economic, and spiritual poverty, reach their highest and fullest potential, be reunited or placed with a gospel-loving Ethiopian family, become constructive and productive citizens of their country, and enjoy life in all its fullness.
Kidmia fulfills this vision through the provision of comprehensive and holistic care and support that brings God-honoring, lasting, and holistic change to the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are motivated by God’s love to serve all children regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.
Thank you so much Audrey and Jason for inviting us! We were so glad to be there and truly enjoyed getting to learn more about this incredible work.
Happy Wednesday!!
