An Outfit .. A Memory .. And Some Shoes

 

On the 3rd I wore red white and blue to work to be festive for the impending holiday. I am a girl who loves a theme or a costume of all kinds. Any reason to dress according to a theme is alright by me.

 

On the fourth RT and I had some friends out to my parent's house on the lake. We floated 90% of the time but we also took a few spins on the banana behind the boat {I have neck soreness to prove it ha!}. We ate some extra yummy food .. including homemade fresh peach ice cream {yum!} all prepared by my mom who is awesome beyond belief. We played some games and ended the night with fireworks. Love it!

 

On the fifth I ordered these shoes from Nasty Gal. I am a Jeffrey Campbell junkie and RT and I are going to a wedding in OK next weekend so I obviously NEEDED these shoes. I would have NOTHING to wear otherwise. Alright alright so that is a load of hooey but they were just too cute to pass up.

The Fourth

I saw this idea on pinterest and I just had to try it ..

 

 

.. I took an old pair of jean shorts from target .. ripped out the hem .. cut them off .. painted stars on one side and stripes on the other using silver fabric paint .. let the paint dry .. set it with the iron .. washed and dried them .. and TA DA!!

 

Perfect for the fourth of July if I do say so myself :) worn with a tie dyed tank that I have had forever and my grey Jeffrey Campbell litas.

 

RT and a bunch of our friends are heeded out to my parents house this morning to play on the lake and hang out. What more could I ask for than a day spent with family and friends out on the lake?? It is supposed to be excellent weather today too!! Not quite 100° which to some people might still sound crazy hot but we are texans and anything below 100° is pretty decent. Hot but more than bearable.

sailing around a lake at sunset enjoying a cocktail and great friends sounds like heaven right now. instead .. I am at work. not that that is a bad thing, I love my job .. but it's not the lake ya know what im sayin??

 

i don't know if any of you have noticed but I haven't had much to say on my blog lately. most of the time I am an extremely wordy person but recently I have had a hard time finding things to say. i have a lot going on around me and my mind is running ninety to nothing but I can't seem to translate it into actual words. sorry about that. I love my blog and I don't ever want it to be boring for you guys to read but I also don't want to force a bunch of randomness if I'm not really feeling it. hopefully I am only temporarily blocked and will have much more to say very soon.

Just the Six of Us

Last night my siblings, our spouses, and I all went out to dinner and to see the Blue Man Group. It was the first time the six of us have ever done anything together just us. Can you believe that?!? We get together as a whole family, with my parents and the kiddos all the time but never our generation only. I truly had a blast and it makes me hope that we can start getting together like that regularly. And to make it even better .. the Blue Man Group was frickin phenomenal!! Seriously, if you get the opportunity to see one of their shows you should.



I .. clearly being the best blogger ever .. did not take one single picture. So if you were hoping for a photo montage of the night too bad for you! But luckily I have blogged about each piece of my outfit before {only 2 pieces really .. dress .. shoes} and I made a little mash up so you can get the idea.

.. and I didn't even wear blue on purpose. I am just that subconsciously coordinated. Yea right!!

Mullet??

 

Here is the thing about hi-lo hemlines .. some people love them and some people hate them. I have heard it referred to as a mullet hem which conjures up particularly yucky feelings for me. But seeing as how I am a lover not a hater, I am down with a "party in the front business in the back" kind of look. {yes I know the saying is "business in the front party in the back" but for a skirt it's the other way around don't ya think??}. Especially when it comes in green lace!! I love this dress so much! It is light and airy which is a must for this INSANE heat .. and .. the color is perfectly vibrant and that just makes me feel happy!

For Your Information ..

.. it is cloudy today and I am crossing my fingers for rain. A lot of people around here are complaining about all the rain we have been having but I love it. I love the way it smells. I love that it brings life to all of the plants and yards. I love that it fills up our lakes. I love that it makes me want to curl up on the couch and snuggle. I love that it brings some relief from the heat. And most of all I love that we are not living through severe draught conditions like we were last summer. So come one rain .. bring it!

 

.. my boss brought her sweet new baby to visit us at the store today!! She is two weeks old today and she is the definition of a muffin. She is just perfect and precious and she hardly makes a peep. I am a serious baby lover and I could have snuggled with her all day long. Such a bright start to this work day!

 

.. my in laws are visiting from OK and we are going to have dinner with my sister and her family tonight. We are going to this fun local Mexican food restaurant that has the best atmosphere and food. RT and I love any excuse to spend time with our nieces and nephews and I really like to share that with his patents. Even though they are only a couple of hours away, our families really don't spend much time together. Such a great opportunity to spend time with both sides of our family at once!

 

.. a couple of weeks ago we were at market buying for holiday and our genetic denim rep gave me these awesome printed jeans! I was so excited I wore them the very next day. Today I decided to go pretty literal with it so, going along the grey print, I paired these skinnies with a grey top and grey Jeffrey Campbell litas.
