I Want to Move!

Just a warning ... this is probably going to be my longest post to date and really has nothing to do with fashion. As a matter of fact it might also be my least fashionable post to date. But the scenery is absolute perfection and I can't weed out any more of it. Thought it would be nice to let you know before you got started (ha!). Enjoy!

No offense to my beloved TX but being in Crested Butte for the last week makes me want to move so bad! Seriously! Hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, loving life all day every day in the summer and skiing, snow shoeing, snowboarding, sledding, loving life all day every day in the winter!!! It really is too bad we can't move somewhere new for a few years ... oh well ... we will just have to visit as much as possible.

As soon as we got into town we dropped our bags, changed our clothes, and met my parents on a hike.

Hiking!

I told you before ... this was not a fashionable vacay (ha!)

This teepee was just sitting in someone's back yard. So cool!

Early morning hike!

Meet my mom and dad :)

And Connie too. She is a great friend of my mom's who still lives in CB and she was such a fun and knowledgeable tour guide on many of our hikes

I repeat ... I want to move!

Look there is still snow at the top of a lot of the mountains

Pretty spectacular mushroom that was worthy of Alice in Wonderland

Random collection of rocks all stacked together with basically no purpose ... but it looked cool

Check out how this tree fell over and is resting above the ground on it's spindally limbs (not that "spindally" is a word)

Their flowers get so tall!

I have an older brother and an older sister and they have blessed me with 6 nieces and nephews. These are just the oldest 3. There are 3 more boys younger than them. I never knew I could love children as much as I love these sweet little angels

Riding the high speed quad up to the top of the ski mountain

CB looks sooo tiny!

My dad and his brothers. So fun to vacation with family!

Hiking!

At the top of some of the runs that we ski all the time when we visit during the winter

It takes about 15 minutes to ride the lift up and ski all the way to the base but on foot it took us about 3 hours. They have a trail called "The Yellow Brick Road" that winds back and forth all along the front of the mountain. It was really neat to be on this mountain without the snow. I didn't have any memories of seeing it in the summer until now.

Have a great week everyone!

Roadtrippin'

And we're off! I am officially off work for the next week and Ryan and I are headed to my favorite place on earth! I know I have already told you guys but we are going to spend some time with family in Colorado for the next several days and I am super excited! The road-trip is long (15 hours!) but I grew up making this drive and honestly I love it. Ryan isn't as much of a road-trip lover as I am but he is a good sport none the less. So, with the big dog at the kennel (sniff! tear! sniff!) and the little dog staying with my sweet in-laws (thank you so much!), we embark on our vacation.
I was on the phone with my mom last night and we were laughing because I really don't have the appropriate attire for this adventure vacation. We are going to be "roughin' it" as my dad put it. Hiking, biking, fishing and all that fun stuff during the day and hanging out around the campfire at night. The daytime attire I have covered. I love outdoor exercise and I have plenty of clothes to wear for that but it is the sitting around the campfire at night that I'm ill prepared for. I am sure this sounds silly but seriously what shoes am I going to need? Anyway there is not doubt I have too much stuff packed but I wasn't sure what exactly I am going to need.
I will be updating with pictures once we are home. Rest assured this won't be my most fashionable week but I know we are going to have a blast and I can't wait to get there.
Everyone have a great week!

Twiggy

Every now and then I like to recognize people who have been influential in the fashion world. No doubt Twiggy qualifies. She was hugely famous as a model by the time she was sixteen years old and is thought of as the first ever supermodel. She has also done some acting and designing but is still best known by her photographic and runway modeling. It is close to impossible to forget her face. Her eyes are completely captivating and the way she has always played them up with dramatic eyeliner and lashes only makes them pop even more. Don't you just love her?!

Stripes Above Night Sky

Dress: Beyond Vintage
Shoes: Gianni Bini
Necklace: gift from my momma
One week from tomorrow I will be leaving for a road trip with my hubs to the beautiful colorful Colorado. I am ecstatic to say the very least. My sister and her family got there yesterday (green monsters unite!) and she said it was 80 degrees and gorgeous. I have been living in 100+ weather for the last 25 days and there is no end in sight. You can't even imagine what it feels like to open the door to walk to my car in the afternoons when I get off work. Misery!
When I was a kid my family and I lived in Crested Butte, CO for a few years and we have gone back for a visit at least once a year ever since we moved back to this sauna state. The tiny little mountain town is possibly my favorite place on earth. CAN! NOT! WAIT! TO! BE! THERE!

I guess I should talk about my outfit too. Ha!
It would have been awesome to have this dress on the 4th of July to have a holiday inspired ensemble but oh well. I absolutely love simple dresses for summer. When it is hot it is hard to layer and create intricate outfits because you will die of heat exhaustion ... literally. This one has such a fun understated stars and stripes pattern and I really like that they inverted the use of navy and white from the top to the bottom. Cute right?!
My snakeskin pumps add a subtle pattern combo while still staying in the same color scheme. All in all I love it!

Lena Bernard

Sweater: Vince
Dress: Daftbird
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: Lena Bernard
I wore this necklace in my "Newbury" post a couple of weeks ago and wrote a little bit about the Lena Bernard brand but I really like her story (not to mention her jewelry) so I wanted to give a more information and a link to her website so you can see more of what this line and it's designer are all about.
Lena Bernard

Lena is only 25 and she has already been making jewelry for fifteen years. She is being recognized worldwide for her incredible designs and her fair trade company. She lives in Bali, Indonesia with her family and pulls influence from all over the world having lived in both Sweden and California while she was growing up.

All of her jewelry is handmade from ego-friendly materials. She supports and promotes the community within which she lives by paying the locals to help bring her designs to life.

"I believe strongly in continuous improvement and am always looking to make things more efficient & sustainable. I support community empowerment projects, and am proud to be able to help my artisans achieve their goals and enable them to support their families. The artisans who work with me are the heart & soul of my jewelry."  -Bernard

You can check out more information about the unique designer and find where to buy online through her website: www.lenabernard.com. Of course if you live in the area and know where I work you can always come check out what we have in stock ;)
