The End of Lake Season

Over the weekend RT and I went out to the lake to hang out with family and friends. My parents, my sister and her family, and some friends and their kids came out. We hung out on rafts in the lake and watched as all the kids climbed up the ladder onto the dock, ran around to the side and jumped back in. Over and over and over. Until, that is, they realized they could jump from the top of the dock house and it would be much higher. They needed a grown up to supervise this, so RT and his friend volunteered. The two older boys (4&3) went barreling off the top with absolutely no fear. And really my niece (she is 5) did it once with a huge amount of bravery but then she wasn't all that interested in doing it again. ha! After a long afternoon on the dock we went up to the house and all enjoyed a yummy delicious dinner and sat around and talked until late in the night. I love nothing more than spending time with friends and family. It was so much fun.

Because my parents live on a lake my entire family tries to go out there as much as possible. Honestly, my brother and sister and their families are way better than RT and I about getting out there every weekend. My only excuse ... and it is a pretty good one ... is that we both work weekends sometimes. Anyway, Labor Day weekend is usually the last big lake weekend since school and life as we all know it will officially be started back up after Labor Day. That would be this upcoming weekend :(
My parents always host anyone who wants to come and hang out and we send off the lake season for the year. In accordance with this I thought I would post all of the pictures that have been taken out at my parent's place since I started this blog that I have loved so much.
And ... I encourage you to get to a lake if you can this Labor Day weekend. I promise it is super fun! And if you live where I do it is just about the only way to tolerate being outside in the heat :)

Online Wishing and Another Note

So I have this hobby that RT and I like to call "online wishing." I have roughly a kagillion online stores that I check pretty much daily to see what new things they are selling that I might like to have and that inspire me. I pull the pictures into a folder on my desktop in which I have an individual file for each of the stores. It is crazy and ridiculous and yet I totally love it. I also have a "people" folder where I pull inspirational photos from other bloggers (you guys are awesome!) that I also check pretty much daily. Here are just a very few pictures that I have pulled today. Adding them all would take way too long :)

... except that I am not totally sure I could pull of silver lame leggings so in that case I also love ...

Now, on to a completely different and totally unrelated topic. I recently read a book by Ree Drummond (i.e. Pioneer Woman) called From Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. It is the author's true life love story between her and her "Marlboro Man" and I loved it! I read it in two days and am now mildly, and embarrassingly, obsessed with her. She is hillarious! She has a blog that includes anything and everything which you can follow here. And she has a show premiering on the Food Network tomorrow morning called The Pioneer Woman. If you are into that sort of thing, like me, then you should check it out.

Happy Weekend!!

A Story

... there was a girl. She and her husband wanted to spend some quality time together, so they decided to go see a movie.

They had dinner at home (yum!), then headed out to the theater.

Only to learn that the flick they were going to see was SOLD OUT!

Defeated, they left the theater and stood outside for a while wondering what they were going to do now.

The girl's husband suggested they go sit on a patio and enjoy a cocktail. A great suggestion but she really had her heart set on insanely large portions of Sour Patch Kids and a soda.
Hmmmm. How dissappointing! Hmmmm. What a dilema!

Finally, they settled on stopping by the store to buy their favorite movie snacks (of normal portion sizes). And renting a movie to watch at home.

Thunk Thunk Thunk

Dress: Graham and Spencer
Vest: True Grit
Shoes: Oh wait I am not wearing shoes yet (note to self)

It is not even noon yet and today has already put my poor noggin on overload. Sometimes there are just way too many things swimming around up there and I have a hard time compartmentalizing and then dutifully processing. Hmmm. Oh well.

On a positive note, I am armed with the most hilarious story about my oldest niece that I absolutely plan to tell anyone I encounter AND I am listening to a great song that I think you should download and be obsessed with right along with me(if you haven't already of course), As the Rush Comes by Motorcycle, AND I plan to head into the second half of this day with my head up and a smile plastered. Work place here I come!

More good news ... tomorrow is Friday! I don't care who you are, everyone loves Fridays :)

I Want to Move!

Just a warning ... this is probably going to be my longest post to date and really has nothing to do with fashion. As a matter of fact it might also be my least fashionable post to date. But the scenery is absolute perfection and I can't weed out any more of it. Thought it would be nice to let you know before you got started (ha!). Enjoy!

No offense to my beloved TX but being in Crested Butte for the last week makes me want to move so bad! Seriously! Hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, loving life all day every day in the summer and skiing, snow shoeing, snowboarding, sledding, loving life all day every day in the winter!!! It really is too bad we can't move somewhere new for a few years ... oh well ... we will just have to visit as much as possible.

As soon as we got into town we dropped our bags, changed our clothes, and met my parents on a hike.

View of Crested Butte from up above

Hiking!

I told you before ... this was not a fashionable vacay (ha!)

This teepee was just sitting in someone's back yard. So cool!

Early morning hike!

Meet my mom and dad :)

And Connie too. She is a great friend of my mom's who still lives in CB and she was such a fun and knowledgeable tour guide on many of our hikes

I repeat ... I want to move!

Look there is still snow at the top of a lot of the mountains

Pretty spectacular mushroom that was worthy of Alice in Wonderland

Random collection of rocks all stacked together with basically no purpose ... but it looked cool

Check out how this tree fell over and is resting above the ground on it's spindally limbs (not that "spindally" is a word)

Their flowers get so tall!

I have an older brother and an older sister and they have blessed me with 6 nieces and nephews. These are just the oldest 3. There are 3 more boys younger than them. I never knew I could love children as much as I love these sweet little angels

Riding the high speed quad up to the top of the ski mountain

CB looks sooo tiny!

My dad and his brothers. So fun to vacation with family!

Hiking!

At the top of some of the runs that we ski all the time when we visit during the winter

It takes about 15 minutes to ride the lift up and ski all the way to the base but on foot it took us about 3 hours. They have a trail called "The Yellow Brick Road" that winds back and forth all along the front of the mountain. It was really neat to be on this mountain without the snow. I didn't have any memories of seeing it in the summer until now.

Have a great week everyone!
