Stripes Above Night Sky

Dress: Beyond Vintage
Shoes: Gianni Bini
Necklace: gift from my momma
One week from tomorrow I will be leaving for a road trip with my hubs to the beautiful colorful Colorado. I am ecstatic to say the very least. My sister and her family got there yesterday (green monsters unite!) and she said it was 80 degrees and gorgeous. I have been living in 100+ weather for the last 25 days and there is no end in sight. You can't even imagine what it feels like to open the door to walk to my car in the afternoons when I get off work. Misery!
When I was a kid my family and I lived in Crested Butte, CO for a few years and we have gone back for a visit at least once a year ever since we moved back to this sauna state. The tiny little mountain town is possibly my favorite place on earth. CAN! NOT! WAIT! TO! BE! THERE!

I guess I should talk about my outfit too. Ha!
It would have been awesome to have this dress on the 4th of July to have a holiday inspired ensemble but oh well. I absolutely love simple dresses for summer. When it is hot it is hard to layer and create intricate outfits because you will die of heat exhaustion ... literally. This one has such a fun understated stars and stripes pattern and I really like that they inverted the use of navy and white from the top to the bottom. Cute right?!
My snakeskin pumps add a subtle pattern combo while still staying in the same color scheme. All in all I love it!

Lena Bernard

Sweater: Vince
Dress: Daftbird
Boots: Steve Madden
Necklace: Lena Bernard
I wore this necklace in my "Newbury" post a couple of weeks ago and wrote a little bit about the Lena Bernard brand but I really like her story (not to mention her jewelry) so I wanted to give a more information and a link to her website so you can see more of what this line and it's designer are all about.
Lena Bernard

Lena is only 25 and she has already been making jewelry for fifteen years. She is being recognized worldwide for her incredible designs and her fair trade company. She lives in Bali, Indonesia with her family and pulls influence from all over the world having lived in both Sweden and California while she was growing up.

All of her jewelry is handmade from ego-friendly materials. She supports and promotes the community within which she lives by paying the locals to help bring her designs to life.

"I believe strongly in continuous improvement and am always looking to make things more efficient & sustainable. I support community empowerment projects, and am proud to be able to help my artisans achieve their goals and enable them to support their families. The artisans who work with me are the heart & soul of my jewelry."  -Bernard

You can check out more information about the unique designer and find where to buy online through her website: www.lenabernard.com. Of course if you live in the area and know where I work you can always come check out what we have in stock ;)

Rubber Ducky .. You're the One!

Top: Tucker
Leggings: Tucker
Shoes: Ol'Autre Chose
This post title, and therefore now this top, remind me of a fabulous movie from the year 1990. Three Men and a Little Lady. You know you love it ... well at least I know I love it. I even have it on DVR. One of the funniest parts is after Mary and Sylvia move back to England and the guys are going to throw a party like they did when they lived the bachelor lives and one of them goes to change the music and the Rubber Ducky song sung by Bert and Ernie comes on. Hillariousness!!
Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Saturday :)

Make a Wish

Top: Gemma
Skort: BCBGeneration
Shoes: Steve Madden
Shooting stars on my top and a wishing well at my feet. I'm feeling lucky today!!

This top keeps it going with my obsession of butterfly back shirts. I don't know why but I seriously love the flyaway detail. It is a little bit sexy in a very subtle way.

I have featured this skort before but it has been a while and considering that I still adore it just as much as I always have I figured it was ok to give it a second go.

Go ahead, make a wish ... you never know ... maybe it is your lucky day too ;)

She Sells Sea Shells Down by the Seashore

Dress: Tucker
Shoes: Gianni Bini
Oh ya know just walking around on my old college campus (ha!). We are always trying to be creative in finding new places to take pictures and we live really close to the campus of the college we went to so we thought why not?
Tucker always has such fun prints in great colors and this dress is no exception. The cut of it is perfection. With the ruched sleeves and the fitted waist. And the deep v neckline mirrored at the hem adds just a slight seductive touch. I like everything about it.

Newbury

Top: Joie
Bottoms: Joe's Jeans
Shoes: Naughty Monkey
Necklace: Lena Bernard
We just got this top in at the boutique where I work and I love love love it! The color is completely amazing and even though it is a pre-fall piece it is light enough to wear now. And that actually says a lot because they were saying on the news this morning that today will be our 14th consecutive day of over 100 degree heat where I live. Disgusting isn't it?! I am so ready for fall clothes but for now I am loving items like this top because it basically season-less.
And how about the necklace?! The people from Lena Bernard went to Indonesia and taught a bunch of the locals there to make jewelry and this is one of their designs. It is an awesome statement piece that is really wearable. I love to hear about people going to other countries and teaching a trade so that the locals can be independent and successful.
